Visiting The Old Cottage Garden

The Old Cottage Garden has been open under The National Gardens Scheme since 2003. In 2005 a unique arrangement was tried. Not only was the garden open on one Sunday in July but was also open in aid of the NGS every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm until 7pm between April and September.

In 2006 the arrangements will change, there will be four advertised openings each with a particular theme:

April 16th when turf care will be the topic.
May 28th when planting exotic borders will be the topic.
July 16th when propagation will be the topic.
August 20th when there will be a special plant sale.

At all other times, the garden can be open by appointment, just ring 01263 734574.

Enchanting gardens have joined with Norfolk’s foremost tour operator, Awayadays, and can now offer custom made garden tours in Norfolk. For details, email enchanting@btinternet.com.

Organised Groups

Any organised group that wishes to visit the garden is welcome. Time and date will be by mutual agreement . All proceeds to the NGS for charity. There is an oak framed building where refreshments and lunches can be served.

Although at the end of a Norfolk lane, there is good access and parking for the largest coaches.

Plant Sales

Whenever the garden is open , plants are for sale. What is unique is that you can see the plants in the garden and talk to Judith Clarke and Joyce Walker about the plants and their propagation. The range is not huge by some nursery standards , but the plants are all healthy and robust and can be seen growing in The Old Cottage garden.

Car Parking/Access

There is car parking for 20 cars and most of the garden is suitable for wheelchair access.
